1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Optional Pre-Workshop Sessions

The Basics of Responsible Distribution, Doug Kutz (Responsible Distribution Mentor) - Intended for those new to Responsible Distribution, Doug will deliver an overview of the Responsible Distribution program and can answer questions such as requirements, timelines, and, of course, the Responsible Distribution Mentoring program.  Doug will be supported by representatives of both verifying organizations.

Driving Continual Improvement with Internal Auditing, Jesse Kunes (Kestrel Management) - Internal Auditing is a critical diagnostic process that allows organizations to compare operating processes and activities to their planned requirements—management system standards, regulatory compliance requirements, customer expectations and agreements and internal policy.  Auditing is in the “Check” stage of a Plan-Do-Check-Adjust cycle of review and continual improvement.  Here are some of the topics Jesse will discuss:

  • Identify gaps for improvement—safety, process safety, environmental, quality, food safety, security, customer specification
  • Assess culture and process maturity
  • Monitor and review compliance programs, and capability to comply
  • Generate data for pattern and trend identification
  • Initiate corrective or preventive actions and validate implementation of past CAPAs
  • Continually improve management, operations and performance

This session is geared for those seeking a more advanced internal audits training but since the session will not exceed one hour, the topics will not be too specific in nature.

2:00 pm - 5:30 pm

5th Cycle:  What Have We Learned:  New and updated information from the verifiers. Learn how well members navigated through the 5th cycle and areas where improvement is needed.

"Risk Mitigation", moderated by Tim Manning (Nexeo Solutions, LLC and Responsible Distribution Vice Chairman):  Multiple industry experts with ERI Solutions, Wortham Insurance, MMA Environmental, and others will discuss ways to lower your risk in employer, employee, environmental, and other areas.

"Practices of Excellence", moderated by David Garner (Brenntag North America, Inc. and Responsible Distribution Committee Chairman):

  • Joe Fischman (Chem/Serv): Code I, Senior Management Commitment and Risk Management
  • Andy Lovenduski (Ribelin Sales, a division of KODA Distribution Group): Code VI, Waste Management and Resource Conservation
  • Jim Benning (Hubbard-Hall): Code XI, Corrective and Preventative Action
