An Advocacy Roadmap for the Challenges Ahead

The year 2009 will present the chemical distribution industry with one of the toughest legislative and regulatory environments in recent years. With a weak economy and threats of burdensome legislation, the stakes have never been higher. With this in mind, NACD has identified the challenges ahead and has developed an Advocacy Roadmap to help position our industry for favorable legislation and a better business environment in the states, at the federal level, and even internationally.

The election is behind us and it is time to look forward to where we want to go, where we need to be, and how we are going to get there. However, NACD needs your help on the grassroots level. Member and Affiliate input into what issues are threatening or impacting business can give NACD a route on our Advocacy Roadmap to guide us to issues of importance. Sometimes the path forward has detours. But by planning ahead and working together, we can reach our destination of a stronger, healthier, safer, more secure, and profitable chemical distribution industry.

How to Get on Board

• Complete the 2008 NACD Advocacy Survey and fax it to the NACD office at 703/527-7747.
• Keep up with the Issues and Access Tools on NACD’s Advocacy Web Site — www.nacd.com/advocacy.
• Read Election Analysis on the Chemical (re)Actions Web page.
• Write your Senators and Congressmen.
• Participate in NACD’s Washington Fly-In, April 29-30, 2009.
• Support the NACD Political Action Committee.
• Attend NACD’s Operations Seminar & Trade Show, September 16-18, 2009 to get Regulatory Compliance Updates.
• Dial in to NACD Regulatory Webinars for up-to-date information.
